# About

Provides descriptions for each type of PIN for the GPG module.

### <mark style="color:blue;">USER PIN</mark>

<mark style="color:red;">`default:`</mark><mark style="color:red;">` `</mark><mark style="color:red;">**`123456`**</mark>

The user PIN is needed when performing actions with GPG keys you have imported on your device. You'll be asked for this PIN any time you encrypt/decrypt a file, send an encrypted email, sign a commit with Git / Github, or connect to an SSH server using your GPG keys. Unless you are making a big change to your Yubikey's GPG interface, always assume that when the PIN dialog appears; it's asking for your USER PIN.

### <mark style="color:blue;">ADMIN PIN</mark>

<mark style="color:red;">`default:`</mark><mark style="color:red;">` `</mark><mark style="color:red;">**`12345678`**</mark>

The admin PIN is used when you are performing administrative tasks with your Yubikey. These tasks include changing settings to the GPG interface of your Yubikey itself, importing GPG keys to your Yubikey, generating new keys directly on your Yubikey, or if you enter your USER PIN incorrectly too many times. The ADMIN PIN will be required to unblock your USER PIN.

### <mark style="color:blue;">RESET CODE</mark>

<mark style="color:red;">`default:`</mark><mark style="color:red;">` `</mark><mark style="color:red;">**`none`**</mark>

A code that is talked about very little. It does not have a default code already programed and won't until you actually set it.

This code is best described as only being useful if you are setting up a Yubikey for someone as the administrator, and then handing the Yubikey over to another person. The reset code is used to reset a card after too many failed attempts at an incorrect PIN.

If you are a regular Yubikey user who uses and owns the card, you should never need to worry about this code.
