# 1. Interface

## ❊ Enabling

To see if GPG / PGP is enabled on a Yubikey, download the [Yubikey Manager](https://www.yubico.com/support/download/yubikey-manager/) software.

Once the software is installed, launch the application.

At the top of the menu, select **Interfaces****.**

There are two categories in the above image: **USB** and **NFC**.

| Type | Description |
| --------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **USB** | The modules checked will be enabled on your yubikey when you physically plug your yubikey into a USB port. |
| **NFC** | The modules checked on the right side will be enabled when you tab your yubikey against a NFC enabled cell phone or NFC device. |

Ensure that the **OpenPGP** module is indeed checked for the side you wish to utilize. You can enable both USB and NFC if you are unsure.

## ❊ Interface

Unlike PIV, the GPG module does not have an accessible interface from the Yubikey Manager software itself.

You can manage GPG keys from the command-line, or from programs like Kleopatra which allow you to manage the GPG aspect of your Yubikey / smartcard.

If you wish to use a program with an actual interface, you can try Kleopatra by installing [**Gpg4Win**](https://www.gpg4win.org/)**.**

[**For MacOS users, please take a look at this list of alternatives**](https://tipsforefficiency.com/kleopatra-for-mac/) since Kleopatra is limited to Windows and Linux only.
